ਤਿਸੈ ਸਰੇਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਹੋ ਜਿਸ ਦੈ ਨਾਉ ਪਲੈ ॥
tisai sarayvhu paraaneeho jis dai naa-o palai.
O’ mortals, follow teaching of that Guru who holds the treasure of God’s Name.
Ee binadamu, fuateni mafundisho ya Guru huyo anayebeba hazina ya Jina la Mungu.
ਐਥੈ ਰਹਹੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਿਆ ਅਗੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਚਲੈ ॥
aithai rahhu suhayli-aa agai naal chalai.
You shall dwell in peace here; and this Naam shall accompany you hereafter.
Utaishi kwa amani humu; na Naam hii itaambatana nawe ahera.
ਘਰੁ ਬੰਧਹੁ ਸਚ ਧਰਮ ਕਾ ਗਡਿ ਥੰਮੁ ਅਹਲੈ ॥
ghar banDhhu sach Dharam kaa gad thamm ahlai.
Build the home of truth and righteousness, with the unshakable pillars of faith.
Jenga nyumba ya ukweli na uadilifu, kwa nguzo zisizotikisika ya imani.
ਓਟ ਲੈਹੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੈ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਝਲੈ ॥
ot laihu naaraa-inai deen dunee-aa jhalai.
Seek only the refuge of God who provides both spiritual and worldly support.
Tafuta tu kimbilio cha Mungu anayetoa tegemezo ya kiroho na kidunia.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਕੜੇ ਚਰਣ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਲੈ ॥੮॥
naanak pakrhay charan har tis dargeh malai. ||8||
O’ Nanak, he who leans on God’s support ensures a seat in God’s Court.||8||
Ee Nanak, yule ambaye anaegemea kwa tegemezo ya Mungu anahakikisha kiti katika Mahakama ya Mungu.

ਜਾਚਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ॥
jaachak mangai daan deh pi-aari-aa.
O’ my beloved God, I, a beggar is begging for alms of Naam from You.
Ee Mungu wangu mpendwa, mimi, mwombaji ninaomba sadaka ya Naam kutoka kwako.
ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਮੈ ਨਿਤ ਚਿਤਾਰਿਆ ॥
dayvanhaar daataar mai nit chitaari-aa.
O’ my beneficent Giver, I always remember You with loving devotion.
Ee Mpaji wangu mfadhili, daima nakukumbuka Wewe kwa ujitoaji wa upendo.
ਨਿਖੁਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਮੂਲਿ ਅਤੁਲ ਭੰਡਾਰਿਆ ॥
nikhut na jaa-ee mool atul bhandaari-aa.
Your treasure of Naam is limitless; it doesn’t fall short at all by giving.
Hazina yako ya Naam haina kikomo; haipunguki hata kidogo kwa kutoa.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
naanak sabad apaar tin sabh kichh saari-aa. ||1||
O’ Nanak, infinite is the divine word of God’s praises, which has accomplished all my tasks.||1||

ਸਿਖਹੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਿਆਰਿਹੋ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ॥
sikhahu sabad pi-aariho janam maran kee tayk.
O’ my dear friends, learn and act upon the Guru’s word because it provides support throughout life.
Ee marafiki wangu wa dhati, jifunzeni na mtende kulingana na neno la Guru kwa sababu linatoa tegemezo maishani yote.
ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਏਕ ॥੨॥
mukh oojal sadaa sukhee naanak simrat ayk. ||2||
O’ Nanak, by remembering God with love and devotion, one always remains peaceful in this world and is honored in God’s Court.||2||
Ee Nanak, kwa kumkumbuka Mungu kwa upendo na ujitoaji, mtu daima anabaki mwenye amani duniani humu na anaheshimika katika Mahakama ya Mungu.

ਓਥੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵੰਡੀਐ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਣੇ ॥
othai amrit vandee-ai sukhee-aa har karnay.
There, in the holy congregation, the nectar of God’s Name is distributed; which provides peace to all.
Hapo, katika ushirika takatifu, nekta ya Jina la Mungu linashirikishwa; ambayo linaleta amani kwa wote.
ਜਮ ਕੈ ਪੰਥਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਅਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਰਣੇ ॥
jam kai panth na paa-ee-ah fir naahee marnay.
Those who receive this Nectar are not put on the path of demon of death, and therefore they are not afraid of death.
Wale wanaopokea Nekta hii hawawekwi kwenye njia ya pepo wa kifo, na hivyo basi hawaogopi kifo.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਇਆ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸੁ ਤਿਸੈ ਹੀ ਜਰਣੇ ॥
jis no aa-i-aa paraym ras tisai hee jarnay.
One who enjoys the elixir of God’s Love, experiences this bliss.
Yule ambaye anafurahia dawa ya Upendo wa Mungu, anahisi raha tele hiyo.
ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਰਹਿ ਸਾਧ ਜਨ ਅਮਿਉ ਚਲਹਿ ਝਰਣੇ ॥
banee uchrahi saaDh jan ami-o chaleh jharnay.
In the holy congregation, the saintly persons utter such sweet words of God’s praises as if the springs of nectar of Naam are flowing.
Katika ushirika taktifu, watu watakatifu wanatamka maneno matamu mno ya sifa za Mungu kana kwamba chemichemi za Naam zinatiririka.
ਪੇਖਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੀਵਿਆ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਧਰਣੇ ॥੯॥
paykh darsan naanak jeevi-aa man andar Dharnay. ||9||
Beholding such a sight of the holy congregation, Nanak feels rejuvenated and he is enshrining God’s Name within his heart.||9||
Kwa kutazama mwono kama huo wa ushirika takarifu, Nanak anahisi kusisimuliwa naye anathamini Jina la Mungu moyoni mwake.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਦੂਖਾ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਨਾਸੁ ॥
satgur poorai sayvi-ai dookhaa kaa ho-ay naas.
Serving by following the teachings of the Perfect true Guru, all sufferings end.
Kutumikia kwa kufuata mafundisho ya Guru Kamili wa kweli, mateso yote yanakwisha. ਪੂ
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਅਰਾਧਿਐ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਆਵੈ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੧॥
naanak naam araaDhi-ai kaaraj aavai raas. ||1||
O’ Nanak, by meditating on God’s Name, our aim of life is accomplished successfully.
Ee Nanak, kwa kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu, lengo letu la maisha linafanikishwa.

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸੰਕਟ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ॥
jis simrat sankat chhuteh anad mangal bisraam.
Remembering God with love and devotion, troubles depart, and one comes to dwell in peace and bliss.
Kwa kumkumbuka Mungu kwa upendo na ujitoaji, matatizo yanaondoka, na mtu anakuna kuishi kwa amani na raha tele.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪੀਐ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਬਿਸਰਉ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੨॥
naanak japee-ai sadaa har nimakh na bisara-o naam. ||2||
O’ Nanak, always meditate on God, and don’t forget Him even for an instant. |2|
Ee Nanak, tafakari daima kuhusu Mungu, na usimsahau Yeye hata kwa muda mfupi.

ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਕਿਆ ਗਣੀ ਜਿਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਧਾ ॥
tin kee sobhaa ki-aa ganee jinee har har laDhaa.
How can I describe the glory of those who have realized God?
Ninawezaje kueleza utukufu wa wale ambao wamegundua Mungu?
ਸਾਧਾ ਸਰਣੀ ਜੋ ਪਵੈ ਸੋ ਛੁਟੈ ਬਧਾ ॥
saaDhaa sarnee jo pavai so chhutai baDhaa.
One who seeks the refuge of the saints is released from worldly bonds.
Yule anayetafuta kimbilio cha watakatifu anakombolewa kutoka vifungo vya kidunia.
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀਐ ਜੋਨਿ ਗਰਭਿ ਨ ਦਧਾ ॥
gun gaavai abinaasee-ai jon garabh na daDhaa.
One who sings the praises of the imperishable God does not suffer in the cycles of birth and death).
Yule anayeimba sifa za Mungu asiyeweza kufa hateseki katika mizunguko ya kuzaliwa na kufa.
ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪੜਿ ਬੁਝਿ ਸਮਧਾ ॥
gur bhayti-aa paarbarahm har parh bujh samDhaa.
He meets the Guru and by uttering and understanding the words of God’s praises, achieves eternal peace.
Yeye anakutana na Guru na kwa kutamka na kuelewa maneno ya sifa za Mungu, anatimiza amani ya milele.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਧਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਧਾ ॥੧੦॥
naanak paa-i-aa so Dhanee har agam agDhaa. ||10||
O’ Nanak, he has realized that Master, who is incomprensible and unfathomable.
Ee Nanakm yeye amegundua Bwana huyo, ambaye hawezi kueleweka wala kufahamika.

ਕਾਮੁ ਨ ਕਰਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਵਤਾ ਲੋਇ ॥
kaam na karhee aapnaa fireh avtaa lo-ay.
O’ mortal, You are not doing your real task of meditating on God’s name, and you are wandering around aimlessly in the world.
Ee binadamu, wewe hufanyi kazi yako halisi ya kutafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu, na unazurura kote bila mwelekeo duniani.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਇ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਕਿਨੇਹਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
naanak naa-ay visaari-ai sukh kinayhaa ho-ay. ||1||
O’ Nanak, if God’s Name is forsaken, there can be no peace ||1||
Ee Nanak, iwapo Jina la Mungu lisahaulike, hakuwezi kuwa na amani.

ਬਿਖੈ ਕਉੜਤਣਿ ਸਗਲ ਮਾਹਿ ਜਗਤਿ ਰਹੀ ਲਪਟਾਇ ॥
bikhai ka-urh-tan sagal maahi jagat rahee laptaa-ay.
The bitterness of the poisonous Maya is in all, and it has entrapped the entire world in its grip.
Uchungu wa Maya yenye sumu upo katika vyote, na umenasa dunia nzima katika mshiko wake.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿਆ ਮੀਠਾ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੨॥
naanak jan veechaari-aa meethaa har kaa naa-o. ||2||
O Nanak, it is only the devotees of God, who have thought over and concluded that it is only God’s Name which is sweet. ||2||
Ee Nanak, ni watawa wa Mungu pekee, ambao wamewaza na kuhitimisha kwamba ni Jina la Mungu pekee ambalo ni tamu.

ਇਹ ਨੀਸਾਣੀ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਤਰੀਐ ॥
ih neesaanee saaDh kee jis bhaytat taree-ai.
This is the distinguishing sign of the Holy Saint, that by meeting with him and following his teachings, one is saved from the vices.
Hii ndiyo ishara ya kubainisha Mtakatifu, kwamba kwa kukutana naye na kufuata mafundisho yake, mtu anaokolewa kutoka maovu.
ਜਮਕੰਕਰੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਮਰੀਐ ॥
jamkankar nayrh na aavee fir bahurh na maree-ai.
The Messenger of Death does not come near and we do not die again and again
Mjumbe wa Kifo hakaribii na hatukufi tena na tena.
ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਬਿਖੁ ਸੋ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਰੀਐ ॥
bhav saagar sansaar bikh so paar utree-ai.
and we cross over the terrifying poisonous world-ocean of vices .
na tunavuka bahari-dunia ya dhambi ya kutisha yenye sumu.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗੁੰਫਹੁ ਮਨਿ ਮਾਲ ਹਰਿ ਸਭ ਮਲੁ ਪਰਹਰੀਐ ॥
har gun gufhu man maal har sabh mal parharee-ai.
So, enshrine the virtues of God in your mind, and all your filth of vices shall be washed away.
Hivyo basi, thamini fadhila za Mungu akilini mwako, na uchafu wako wote wa maovu utasafishwa.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਰਹਰੀਐ ॥੧੧॥
naanak pareetam mil rahay paarbarahm narharee-ai. ||11||
O’ Nanak, they who have enshrined the virtues of God in their mind, remain united with God.||11||
Ee Nanak, wale ambao wamethamini fadhila za Mungu akilini mwao, wanabaki wameungana na Mungu.

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਏ ਸੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਚਿਤਿ ॥
naanak aa-ay say parvaan hai jin har vuthaa chit.
O Nanak, approved is the advent of those into this world within whose consciousness God dwells.
Ee Nanak, umeidhinishwa ujio wao duniani ambao Mungu anaishi ndani mwa fahamu yao.
ਗਾਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਅਲ ਪਲਾਲੀਆ ਕੰਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਹਿ ਮਿਤ ॥੧॥
gaalHee al palaalee-aa kamm na aavahi mit. ||1||
O my friend, all other superfluous talks serves no purpose. ||1||
Ee rafiki wangu, matamshi mengine yote ya kupita kiasi hayana manufaa.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਆਇਆ ਪੂਰਨ ਅਗਮ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥
paarbarahm parabh daristee aa-i-aa pooran agam bismaad.
The incomprehensible and wonderful God has become evident to him pervading everywhere.
Mungu asiyeeleweka na wa ajabu amedhihirika kwake akienea kote.
