ਐਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਉਲਟਿ ਧਰੀ ॥੧॥
aiso har ras baran na saaka-o gur poorai mayree ulat Dharee. ||1||
Such is the sublime essence of God’s Name, that I cannot describe it; the Perfect Guru has turned my attention away from the worldly riches and power. ||1||
Ndivyo kilivyo kiini tukufu cha Jina la Mungu, kwamba siwezi kukieleza; Guru Kamili amegeuza umakini wangu kutoka kwa utajiri na nguvu ya kidunia.
ਪੇਖਿਓ ਮੋਹਨੁ ਸਭ ਕੈ ਸੰਗੇ ਊਨ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਸਗਲ ਭਰੀ ॥
paykhi-o mohan sabh kai sangay oon na kaahoo sagal bharee.
I behold the fascinating God with everyone, there is no place without Him; His power is sustaining life in the entire universe.
Natazama Mungu anayevutia na kila mmoja, hakuna mahali ambapo hayupo Yeye; nguvu Yake inatunza uhai katika ulimwengu mzima.
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਪਰੀ ॥੨॥੭॥੯੩॥
pooran poor rahi-o kirpaa niDh kaho naanak mayree pooree paree. ||2||7||93||
God, the treasure of mercy, is permeating everywhere; Nanak says, I have achieved my life’s object of union with God. ||2||7||93||

O’ my mind, what are you saying, and what am I saying to you ?
Ee akili yangu, unasema nini, nami ninakuambia nini?
ਜਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaan parbeen thaakur parabh mayray tis aagai ki-aa kahtaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
my Master-God is omniscient, what can be said before Him.||1||Pause||.
Bwana-Mungu wangu ana maarifa yote, ni kipi kinaweza kusemwa mbele yake. ||1||Sitisha||
ਅਨਬੋਲੇ ਕਉ ਤੁਹੀ ਪਛਾਨਹਿ ਜੋ ਜੀਅਨ ਮਹਿ ਹੋਤਾ ॥
anbolay ka-o tuhee pachhaaneh jo jee-an meh hotaa.
O’ God, even without being said, You know what happens inside the minds of human beings.
Ee Mungu, hata bila kusemwa, Wewe unajua kinachotendeka ndani mwa akili za binadamu.
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਕਾਇ ਕਹਾ ਲਉ ਡਹਕਹਿ ਜਉ ਪੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਨਤਾ ॥੧॥
ray man kaa-ay kahaa la-o dehkahi ja-o paykhat hee sang suntaa. ||1||
O mind, why do you deceive others? How long will you do this? God is with you; He hears and sees everything. ||1||.
Ee akili, kwa nini unalaghai wengine? Utafanya hivi kwa muda gani? Mungu yu nawe; Yeye anasikia na kuona kila kitu.
ਐਸੋ ਜਾਨਿ ਭਏ ਮਨਿ ਆਨਦ ਆਨ ਨ ਬੀਓ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
aiso jaan bha-ay man aanad aan na bee-o kartaa.
Knowing that there is none other than God who can do anything, the mind becomes blissful.
Kwa kujua kwamba hakuna mwengine ila Mungu ambaye anaweza kufanya chochote, akili inakuwa yenye raha tele.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਲਹਤਾ ॥੨॥੮॥੯੪॥
kaho naanak gur bha-ay da-i-aaraa har rang na kabhoo lahtaa. ||2||8||94||
Nanak says, the love for God from the heart of that person never wears off, on whom the Guru becomes merciful. ||2||8||94||
Nanak anasema, upendo kwa Mungu kutoka moyo wa mtu huyo kamwe haufifii, ambaye Guru amemhurumia.

ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਐਸੇ ਹੀ ਝਰਿ ਪਰੀਐ ॥
nindak aisay hee jhar paree-ai.
The spiritual life of a slanderer crumbles down,
Maisha ya kiroho ya mchongezi yanaporomoka,
ਇਹ ਨੀਸਾਨੀ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਉ ਕਾਲਰ ਭੀਤਿ ਗਿਰੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ih neesaanee sunhu tum bhaa-ee ji-o kaalar bheet giree-ai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
like a wall of sand collapses; listen, O brother, this is the distinctive sign of a slanderer. ||1||Pause||
kama ukuta wa mchanga unavyoporomoka; sikiliza, Ee ndugu, hii ndiyo ishara ya kutofautisha mchongezi. ||1||Sitisha||
ਜਉ ਦੇਖੈ ਛਿਦ੍ਰੁ ਤਉ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਉਮਾਹੈ ਭਲੋ ਦੇਖਿ ਦੁਖ ਭਰੀਐ ॥
ja-o daykhai chhidar ta-o nindak umaahai bhalo daykh dukh bharee-ai.
When the slanderer sees a fault in someone else, he is pleased, but he is filled with grief on seeing someone’s virtues.
Wakati mchongezi anaona kosa kwa mtu mwengine, yeye anapendezwa, lakini anajawa na huzuni akiona fadhila za mtu mwengine.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਚਿਤਵੈ ਨਹੀ ਪਹੁਚੈ ਬੁਰਾ ਚਿਤਵਤ ਚਿਤਵਤ ਮਰੀਐ ॥੧॥
aath pahar chitvai nahee pahuchai buraa chitvat chitvat maree-ai. ||1||
At all times, he keeps thinking ill of others but does not succeed in his objective and he becomes spiritually dead while thinking ill of others. ||1||
Wakati wote, yeye anafikiria mabaya kuhusu wengine lakini hafaulu katika lengo lake na anakuwa mfu kiroho wakati anafikiria mabaya kwa wengine.
ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਕਾਲੁ ਨੇਰੈ ਆਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸਿਉ ਬਾਦੁ ਉਠਰੀਐ ॥
nindak parabhoo bhulaa-i-aa kaal nayrai aa-i-aa har jan si-o baad uthree-ai.
God astrayed the slanderer because his death had come near, for he was always creating strife with God’s devotees.
Mungu alipotosha mchongezi kwa sababu kifo chake kimekaribia, kwani yeye daima alikuwa anachochea ugomvi na watawa wa Mungu.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਿਆ ਮਾਨਸ ਬਪੁਰੇ ਕਰੀਐ ॥੨॥੯॥੯੫॥
naanak kaa raakhaa aap parabh su-aamee ki-aa maanas bapuray karee-ai. ||2||9||95||
O’ Nanak, the Master-God Himself is the savior of saintly persons, what harm could a mere human being inflict on him. ||2||9||95||
Ee Nanak, Bwana-Mungu Mwenyewe ndiye mwokozi wa watu watakatifu, binadamu wa kawaida anaweza kuathiri madhara gani kwake.

Why do people wander in delusion like this?
Kwa nini watu wanazurura katika madanganyo hivi?
ਕਰਹਿ ਕਰਾਵਹਿ ਮੂਕਰਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਪੇਖਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karahi karaaveh mookar paavahi paykhat sunat sadaa sang haray. ||1|| rahaa-o.
They do and get done all kinds of evil deeds and then deny the same, but God is always with them watching and listening everything. ||1||Pause||
Wanaenda na kufanya aina zote za vitendo viovu ba kisha kuvikana, lakini Mungu daima yu nao akitazama na kusikiliza kila kitu. ||1||Sitisha||
ਕਾਚ ਬਿਹਾਝਨ ਕੰਚਨ ਛਾਡਨ ਬੈਰੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੇਤੁ ਸਾਜਨ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਖਰੇ ॥
kaach bihaajhan kanchan chhaadan bairee sang hayt saajan ti-aag kharay.
O’ mortal, you are dealing in glass like worldly wealth and discarding gold like Naam; renouncing true saintly friends, you are in love with vices, the enemies.
Ee binadamu, unafanya biashara katika utajiri wa kidunia kama glasi na kutupa Naam iliyo kama dhahabu; ukikana marafiki takatifu wa kweli, unapenda maovu, maadui wako.
ਹੋਵਨੁ ਕਉਰਾ ਅਨਹੋਵਨੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਲਪਟਾਇ ਜਰੇ ॥੧॥
hovan ka-uraa anhovan meethaa bikhi-aa meh laptaa-ay jaray. ||1||
God’s Name which is eternal, seems bitter to you and the perishable worldly wealth seems sweet to you; engrossed in Maya, you are burning away. ||1||
Jina la Mungu ambalo ni la milele; linaonekana kuwa chungu kwako na utajiri wa kidunia usio wa kudumu linaonekana kuwa tamu kwako; kwa kuvama katika Maya, unajiteketeza.
ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਪਰਾਨੀ ਭਰਮ ਗੁਬਾਰ ਮੋਹ ਬੰਧਿ ਪਰੇ ॥
anDh koop meh pari-o paraanee bharam gubaar moh banDh paray.
People have fallen into a blind pit of ignorance and are entangled in the darkness of doubt, and the bondage of emotional attachment.
Watu wameanguka kwenye shimo lenye giza la ujinga na wamenaswa katika giza ya shaka, na utumwa wa kiambatisho cha kihisia.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੋਤ ਦਇਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਕਾਢੈ ਬਾਹ ਫਰੇ ॥੨॥੧੦॥੯੬॥
kaho naanak parabh hot da-i-aaraa gur bhaytai kaadhai baah faray. ||2||10||96||
Nanak says, one on whom God becomes merciful, unites with the Guru who helps him out of this pit of ignorance. ||2||10||96||
Nanak anasema, yule ambaye Mungu amemhurumia, anaungana na Guru ambaye anamsaidia kutoka kwa shimo hili la ujinga.

I have reflected on God with my mind, body and tongue,
Nimewaza kwa makini kuhusu Mungu kwa akili, mwili na ulimi wangu,
ਭਏ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸੇ ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bha-ay anandaa mitay andaysay sarab sookh mo ka-o gur deenHaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
My Guru has blessed me with all kinds of pleasures and peace, my worries have been removed and within me is prevailing a state of bliss.||1||Pause|
Guru wangu amenibariki na aina zote za raha na amani, mahangaiko yangu yameondolewa na ndani mwangu kunadumu hali ya raha tele. ||1||Sitisha||
ਇਆਨਪ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਭਈ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਾਨਾ ਬੀਨਾ ॥
i-aanap tay sabh bha-ee si-aanap parabh mayraa daanaa beenaa.
My ignorance has been totally transformed into wisdom; my God is wise and omniscient.
Ujinga wangu umebadilishwa kabisa kuwa hekima; Mungu wangu ni mwenye hekima na maarifa yote.
ਹਾਥ ਦੇਇ ਰਾਖੈ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਉ ਕਾਹੂ ਨ ਕਰਤੇ ਕਛੁ ਖੀਨਾ ॥੧॥
haath day-ay raakhai apnay ka-o kaahoo na kartay kachh kheenaa. ||1||
God saves His devotee by extending help and nobody can harm him. ||1||
Mungu anaokoa mtawa wake kwa kunyoosha msaada wake na hakuna mtu anaweza kumdhuru.
ਬਲਿ ਜਾਵਉ ਦਰਸਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੀਨਾ ॥
bal jaava-o darsan saaDhoo kai jih parsaad har naam leenaa.
I am dedicated to the blessed vision of the Guru; by whose grace, I meditated on God’s Name.
Nimewekwa wakfu kwa mwono uliobarikiwa wa Guru; ambaye kwa neema yake, nilitafakari kuhusu Jina la Mungu.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭਾਰੋਸੈ ਕਹੂ ਨ ਮਾਨਿਓ ਮਨਿ ਛੀਨਾ ॥੨॥੧੧॥੯੭॥
kaho naanak thaakur bhaarosai kahoo na maani-o man chheenaa. ||2||11||97||
Nanak says, I place my full trust only in God; my mind does not believe in any thig else , even for an instant. ||2||11||97||
Nanak anasema, naweka itibari yangu kamilifu kwa Mungu peke yake; akili yangu haiamani kitu kingine chochote, hata kwa muda mfupi.

gur poorai mayree raakh la-ee.
The perfect Guru has saved my honor.
Guru kamili ameokoa staha yangu.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
amrit naam riday meh deeno janam janam kee mail ga-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
The Guru has enshrined the ambrosial Naam within my heart by whichthe dirt of sins of countless births from my mind is washed away . ||1||Pause||
Guru amethamini Naam yenye ambrosia ndani mwa moyo wangu na kutokana nayo dhambi za kuzaliwa kwingi kusikohesabika za akili yangu zimesafishwa. ||1||Sitisha||
ਨਿਵਰੇ ਦੂਤ ਦੁਸਟ ਬੈਰਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕਾ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾਪੁ ॥
nivray doot dusat bairaa-ee gur pooray kaa japi-aa jaap.
I contemplated on Naam given by the perfect Guru, as a result of which, all my inner demons (vices) and all other enemies (evil thoughts) have vanished.
Nilitafakari kuhusu Naam iliyotolewa na Guru kamili, na kama matokeo yake, mapepo yangu yote ya kindani (maovu) na maadui wengine (fikira mbaya) wamepotea.
