ਮਃ ੩ ॥ mehlaa 3. Third Guru: ਸੰਤਾ ਨਾਲਿ ਵੈਰੁ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਦੁਸਟਾ ਨਾਲਿ ਮੋਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ santaa naal vair kamaavday dustaa naal moh pi-aar. The slanderers bear enmity with the saints and have love and affection for the wicked. ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਦੁਰਜਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਰ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ। سنّتا
ਇਉ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੀਐ ਸਭੁ ਰਾਜੁ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਾ ਲੇਇ ॥ i-o gurmukh aap nivaaree-ai sabh raaj sarisat kaa lay-ay. In this way, when the Guru’s follower completely sheds his ego, then he feels as if he has received the sovereignty of the entire universe. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਗਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ,
ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ salok mehlaa 3. Shalok, Third Guru: سلوکُ مਃ੩॥ ਪਰਥਾਇ ਸਾਖੀ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਸਾਝੀ ਸਗਲ ਜਹਾਨੈ ॥ parthaa-ay saakhee mahaa purakh bolday saajhee sagal jahaanai. The great men may be speaking about certain true story or a particular situation, but the teachings in those is applicable to the entire world. ਮਹਾਂ
ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ salok mehlaa 3. Shalok, Third Guru: سلوکُ مਃ੩॥ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭਿ ਭਰਮਦੇ ਨਿਤ ਜਗਿ ਤੋਟਾ ਸੈਸਾਰਿ ॥ vin naavai sabh bharamday nit jag totaa saisaar. Without meditating on Naam people are always wandering around aimlessly in the world and are suffering spiritual losses. ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕਦੇ
ਮਨ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇ ॥ man kee saar na jaannee ha-umai bharam bhulaa-ay. they do not know the state of their own minds and are lost in doubt and ego. ਹਉਮੈ ਤੇ ਭਰਮ ਵਿਚ ਭੁੱਲੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਸਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਈ। من کیِ سار ن جانھنیِ ہئُمےَ بھرمِ بھُلاءِ ॥
ਧੰਧਾ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਨਿਹਫਲੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥ DhanDhaa karti-aa nihfal janam gavaa-i-aa sukh-daata man na vasaa-i-aa. Involved in worldly affairs, one wastes his precious human life in vain; and does not enshrine God, the bestower of spiritual peace, in his mind. ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕਜ਼ੀਏ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਨਿਸਫਲ ਗਵਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ
ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ salok mehlaa 3. Shalok, Third Guru: سلوکُ مਃ੩॥ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਲਤੇ ਜਲਿ ਮੁਏ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਆਏ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ ha-umai jaltay jal mu-ay bharam aa-ay doojai bhaa-ay. Indulged in ego, people endure much suffering and become spiritually dead; after wandering in the love of duality, when they come to the Guru’s refuge, ਸੰਸਾਰੀ
ਮਨ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਤੀਰਥ ਜਾਇ ਬਸਿਓ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰਵਤ ਧਰਾਏ ॥ man kaamnaa tirath jaa-ay basi-o sir karvat Dharaa-ay. He may desire to go and dwell at sacred places of pilgrimage, and even offer his head for sacrifice; ਆਪਣੀ ਮਨੋ-ਕਾਮਨਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉਹ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਾ ਵਸੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਆਰਾ ਰਖਾਂਏ l من کامنا تیِرتھ جاءِ بسِئو
ਤਿਨਾ ਪਿਛੈ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜੋ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥੨॥ tinaa pichhai chhutee-ai pi-aaray jo saachee sarnaa-ay. ||2|| O’ dear, we are also saved by following the example of such persons who seek the refuge of the eternal God.||2|| ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਨਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ
