ਜਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਗਇਆ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਆ ਨ ਨੀਕਾ ॥ jaraa jeevan joban ga-i-aa kichh kee-aa na neekaa. Youth has passed and old age has come, but I have not done any good deeds. ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜੁਆਨੀ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਤਕ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। جراجیِۄنجوبنُگئِیاکِچھُکیِیاننیِکا॥ جیئرا ۔

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਵਲਿ ਹੋਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਨੁ ॥ jan naanak kai val ho-aa mayraa su-aamee har sajan purakh sujaan. O’ Nanak, my Master-God, who is wise, all pervading and friend of all, is on the side of His devotees. ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੇਖਣੁ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ gurmukh vaykhan bolnaa naam japat sukh paa-i-aa. He looks at things and speaks keeping the Guru’s teaching in mind; he receives spiritual peace by always remembering God with adoration. ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਤੇ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
