ਭੈ ਅਟਵੀਅੰ ਮਹਾ ਨਗਰ ਬਾਸੰ ਧਰਮ ਲਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਣ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਇਆ ॥ bhai atvee-aN mahaa nagar baasaNDharam lakh-yan parabh ma-i-aa. The dreadful woods become a well-populated city; such are the merits of the righteous life of Dharma, given by God’s Grace. ਰਾਜੰ ਤ ਮਾਨੰ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੰ ਤ ਹੀਨੰ ॥ raajaNta maanaN abhimaanaNta heenaN. If there is power, then there is pride. If there is egotistical pride, then there will be a fall. From kingdom (or position of power) arises arrogance, and one who indulges in pride soon gets humiliated. ਜਿਥੇ ਰਾਜ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਭੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ
ਧ੍ਰਿਗੰਤ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸਨੇਹੰ ਧ੍ਰਿਗ ਸਨੇਹੰ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਬਾਂਧਵਹ ॥ Dharigant maat pitaa sanayhaNDharig sanayhaNbharaat baaNDhvah. Cursed is loving attachment to one’s mother and father; cursed is loving attachment to one’s siblings and relatives. Accursed is (too much) fondness for one’s mother and father. Also accursed is (too much) fondness for brothers (sisters) or relatives. ਮਾਂ
ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਜੋ ਮਾਨਿਓ ਦੇਹ ਸੋ ਤਉ ਤੇਰਉ ਹੋਇ ਹੈ ਖੇਹ ॥ asthir jo maani-o dayh so ta-o tayra-o ho-ay hai khayh. You believed that this body was permanent, but it shall turn to dust. (O’ my friend), this body which you deem as everlasting, that (body of) yours would (soon) be reduced to dust. ਜਿਸ

ਸਭੋ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸਮਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ sabho hukam hukam hai aapay nirbha-o samat beechaaree. ||3|| He Himself is the Commander; all are under His Command.
